“ The world belongs to the energetic” said Raplh Waldo Emerson as the saying Goes, Mr. AN. VenkatachalamChettiar is a very energetic person, a 95 year old young man. Born as the 5th child in a simple family to Sri. Annamalai Chettiar and Smt. Unnamalai Achi, he started his career as an employee at Colmbo. A year and a half later he was employed under Raja Sri Muthiah Chettiar of Chettinad and he functioned as an efficient and confident employee as General Manager as his mentor. In 1972, he made a humble beginning of his Plantation business at Chikmangalur. His son Mr.V. Mohan, joined his father in developing the Plantations. Mr. Mohan, a very dynamic and industrious person as he is, started a construction business in the name of “Mayflower” at Coimbatore in the year of 1985. Mayflower has made many prominent landmarks on the face of Coimbatore, adding to its Pomp and Beauty. Around 50 Prestigious Projects including Apartments, Villas and Commerical complexes in a span of three decades has created a unique identity for Mayflower in Coimbatore and branched out in Chennai also. Mayflower Mantra is “No compromise on quality and timely” have become synonymous and this has earned a great good will and reputation for them.
Mr. Mohan is a very benevolent person, who along with his father has contributed generously for various causes. They have constructed a school in the name of “ Lotus AN Venkatachalam, Chettiar School” in their native Devakottai and donated to the community. They have also constructed a huge Karungal Mandapam for Meenakshiamman at the Sivan Kovil Devakottai. AN.Venkatachalam chettiar’s son in Law Mr. Thiagarajan has donoted two wooden chariots to Devokottai Meenakshiamman temple. He has also contributed generously for the NSMVPS Schools at Devakootai.
Mr. Mohan, along with his father has contributed to the Coimbatore Nagatathar Sangam and various temples and occasions for various causes. They have also contributed a sliver chariot to Chamundeshwari temple at Mysore and a Sliver Garuda Vahanam to Sri Raja Rajeswari Temple Bangalore. Apart from education and temples.
As the Thirukkural goes, they have ever been charitable inspite of quite many hurdles.
Now, they have extended their contribution to the eye Hospital at Kovillor which is a great project intended to help the under privileged. Mr. Venkatachalam chettiar has even been humble and generous inspite of reaching great heights in life. His wife Smt. Sundaravalli achi has been with him through out the ups and downs of his life. She has been the pillar behind his success.
Mr. Mohan has been a perfect son for his father keeping up his generosity at the same time doing justice to his family and business. Smt. Meyyammai wife of Mr. Mohan has toiled to upkeep the name and tradition of the family. She is the woman behind the success of Mr. Mohan.
