Born on 7th July, 1956, “Alagu” Alagappan graduated in Business Administration before joining his family business of coffee cultivation and consumer products distribution. His passion for educating and moulding the youth made him take to a career in education.
“Alagu” Alagappan is the founder Director of Blossom Public School, a premier educational institution in Thanjavur, India wherein 3000 children receive quality education. He is also the founder of Blossom Bluebells Nursery & Primary School in Thanjavur which is another upcoming institution imparting value-based education. He has been in the field of education and imparting training to youth for the last 20 years and has a versatile experience in Human Resource Development.
He is on the Board of Directors of Sri Nachammai Cotton Mills Ltd., a textile mill producing high fiber yarn and is on the Governing Council of Gnanam School of Business, a Business School offering Post Graduate degree in Business Administration.
“Alagu” Alagappan is a Past President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry and is a member of the State Cricket Association. He is a sports lover and has been the captain of his school and college cricket teams besides playing table-tennis. He enjoys travelling & reading.
“Alagu” Alagappan is a Rotarian since 1977. Having served as the Charter President of Rotary Club of Thanjavur Midtown, he served the club and district in various levels before becoming the District Governor of R.I. District 2980, India during the Rotary year 1994-95. “Alagu” Alagappan has represented the President of Rotary International at five District Conferences, twice in India and thrice overseas, once in Pakistan and twice in Australia.
“Alagu” Alagappan is married to Alagammai and they have two sons, Sakthi & Valliappan and they are blessed with three grand children – two grandsons and a granddaughter.
